Welcome to Morrocco

If you’re joining us for PURE 2020, we look forward to welcoming you to the community.

To make sure that you’re fully prepared for flying out to Morocco, have a read of the below travel information and allow plenty of time to arrange everything!

It’s your responsibility to get everything prepared, including visas and visa letters, so make sure you check that you can be granted a visa at the nearest consulate or embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco as soon as possible. Allow a long lead-time – we recommend at least 40 days.

We recommend that you book your flights to Marrakech early and remember to arrive in time for MATTER, which starts on 8 September 2019.

Please note that our new community initiative, Make it MATTER, will take place early on Sunday morning, requiring early arrival and sign-up into Marrakech on Saturday 7 September.

Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is recommended, and don’t forget to check for exclusions, and ensure that your policy covers you for any of the activities you want to get involved in during your trip.

If you’re planing on using taxis, here are a few tips to remember:

  • The average cost of a ride within the city is around MAD 30 and should cost no more than MAD 40
  • A taxi from the airport to the Medina should be no more than MAD 200
  • Taxis to La Palmeraie could cost around MAD 150
  • A 50% rise is expected for night drives, while luggage also incurs an additional charge
  • All taxis should be equipped with a working counter – remember to ask the drivers to put it on before accepting the ride. If their counter doesn’t work, which is often the case, you should agree on a price before embarking on your journey; otherwise you might find it considerably more expensive once you arrive at your destination!
  • ‘Small taxis’, contrary to ‘big taxis’, cannot take you outside of Marrakech and are limited to three passengers
